Looking back in gratitude

It's the season of Thanksgiving. I'm working on travel plans for my parents to visit, and starting to think of what I'll cook for the four of us. I'm amazed that the yearly church Thanksgiving meal, November 20 at 5:30 p.m., is just around the corner. (Contact the church to sign up to join us.)

I'm also amazed that it's been another year. This one went by pretty quickly. And yet, looking back, a lot has happened in the last year--in my life and in the life of my family, my friends, the church.

Can you see God's hand in the past year? Are there challenges met, issues resolved, struggles survived, victories won, relationships formed or deepened? Are there things you are grateful to have accomplished--or to have survived?

Can you see God's hand in the past year?

Thankfulness isn't just about an attitude we have. It's also about having the eyes to see a loving God at work. In our good times and even more in our times of grief, trust in God depends on recognizing the Blesser behind the blessings. Spend some time to reflect on what parts of your life show you God's hand, and if you would, share a memory on the comments on this blog or on Facebook.

For more giving of Thanks, join us for Sunday worship at 10 a.m.
