So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Galatians 3:26-27)
Throughout the New Testament, joining God's family--becoming God's children--is described as being baptized (immersed/ dipped/ dunked) into Christ. I asked our incredible tech team to help me make a video showing people what baptism looks like at Laughlintown Christian Church; I recommend you share this blog, or at least the video, with anyone who asks you about it. You'll notice that baptism here is very simple and short; the point is that when we dip someone into water, we're also dipping them into Jesus himself. Jesus is Lord and Savior; Jesus is the one who makes us family, not some membership requirement. Galatians says that Jesus is like a set of clothing, a uniform, that shows we are all on the same team: God's children.
Jesus is like a set of clothing, a uniform, that shows we are all on the same team: God's children.
A week from Sunday (August 30) we are having a special Youth Sunday, to explain to our kids and to one another what it really means to join the family of God. We invite you to that special service, or to any of our services, where we learn to live out our faith together. We're all one family, one team, as God's children--because we've all been baptized into Christ and put on Christ.
Join us for our Sunday worship at 10 a.m., or our Wednesday evening Bible study at 6 p.m., or our Sunday School at 9 a.m. And remember that weekly gatherings are just the beginning. We follow Jesus by living our life together day by day, in sanctuaries and in homes, while singing and praying and learning and eating and sharing.
