Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, he was buried, he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and he appeared to Peter and the apostles. -- 1 Corinthians 15:3-5
Good news! This week, almost 2000 years ago, Jesus died on Good Friday for our sins, and rose on Easter Sunday to bring new life to the whole world.
We call this news because it changes those who hear it. It doesn't really matter if you believe in germs--infections can still kill you. But it does matter if you believe in antibiotics. Specifically, it matters that you take the medicine that can save your life.
The resurrection of Jesus can save your life. Putting your trust in Jesus will give you a new type of life in the present, and a new hope beyond death for the future.
Putting your trust in Jesus will give you a new type of life in the present, and a new hope beyond death for the future.
In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul ends a lengthy discussion of Jesus' resurrection, and ours, by saying: Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Because Jesus rose, what we do is God matters--forever. That's good news.
Every Sunday at 10 a.m. we celebrate God's resurrection power at work in those who follow Jesus. On Easter Sunday we'll have special music and an extra helping of resurrection joy. We're also participating in a sunrise Easter service on the Ligonier Diamond (April 20 at 6:30 a.m.) Join us in the joy that comes from knowing that Jesus defeated death.
