I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. For today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, the Messiah, the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11)
Christmas is such a beautiful time of the year. We help each other a little more, we sing a little more, we give each other gifts a little more, we eat yummy cookies and fudge a little more. We light candles a little more and talk about the miracle of Jesus' coming a little more.
Some churches tell me that it gets a little chaotic and busy. But fortunately Laughlintown Christian Church doesn't overwork me. We ring the bell for Salvation Army and decorate our sanctuary, but those are fun, not work. Our Christmas services are pretty simple. We'll have a normal worship service on Sunday the 21st at 10 a.m., preceded by a 9 a.m. breakfast. We'll have a Christmas Eve service on the 24th at 7 p.m., followed by snacks and drinks. It will mainly be music and singing, with candles and communion.
Come feel the peace, hear the story, and know God's love.
Come feel the peace, hear the story, and know God's love.
Even with our simple Christmas schedule, you'll see all the familiar elements. We spice up our services with the Christmas story: prophets and angels, shepherds and wise men, Joseph and Mary. Come feel the peace, hear the story, and know God's love.
If you want a bigger production, you've got options in town and in the area. If you want a more somber and mournful celebration, there are options for that too--I recommend a Blue Christmas service on Monday the 22nd, at 6 p.m., at Anglican Episcopal in Ligonier.
Or just go for a drive to see lights, turn on your radio to hear the music, read Luke chapter 2, and think about the little Baby who started it all. Reach out to us if you want to share questions or prayer requests. Feel the peace, hear the story, and know God's love.
